Simonaire Backs off of School Board Bill

After the numerous weeks of waiting for a vote on the school board bill for Anne Arundel County, I now see that Sen. Bryan Simonaire has now backed down to "further investigate" and setup a committee on the situation. This was an extremely lousy way to say "I know I'm going to lose". Simonaire claimed before being elected that he was fighting for the people of the 31st district..... and now to see him back away from a fight for the people that elected him is an absolute shame. If he had done his homework in the first place... there wouldn't have been a need to back down.

If Simonaire ever reads this..... Thanks..... You just made me $50...... Betting you wouldn't stand your ground on an issue and showing your true colors about your beliefs.

That is the problem when you think you know all the answers without knowing all the facts. He should have known from previous attempts that the bill would not pass. He thought because the makeup of the delegation had changed there would be a chance. It is going to take more than a minor shift in the delegation to get it through and then regardless of local courtesy, if Busch opposes it you still might have a hard fight on your hands.
Also by cutting and running he did not get a recorded vote on who is on what side. Now I know everyone knows it anyway but an official recorded vote is something tangible. It also would be better for the public to see him losing for something he believed in than running when he knew he was going to be defeated. This shows that his principles are subject to change if it makes him look bad. Maybe I should say what he thinks makes him look bad. If you stand for what you believe and have the confidence in what you believe than no matter what the outcome you know you did the right thing. If others think badly of you for the defeat what does it matter as long as you know you stood by your principles and you word.
